Join us for this fine holiday tradition with our holiday classic - The Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky’s great score sets every scene as this beloved story is brought to new glory for you and your family to enjoy this holiday season.
Meet sweet little Clara and her Uncle Drosselmeyer, who dazzles party guests with his delightful holiday gifts. The Nutcracker Soldier underneath a magical tree that grows higher and higher while dancing toy soldiers battle mischievous mice will captivate you with their sword-play and might.
Get transported to a snow covered winter forest filled with shimmering snowflakes that swirl and sway. Then it’s on to the rich Kingdom of Sweets, ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier Prince performed by our Nutcracker Guest Artists, from the San Antonio Ballet - Kathleen Martin and Mayim Stiller.

Our Guest Artists:
Kathleen Martin is originally from Grayslake Illinois and is now in her sixth year as a professional dancer. She joined Ballet San Antonio in 2015 and was quickly promoted to soloist for the 2016 season. She had an outstanding season last year performing in the annual Nutcracker, where she danced the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen. In Peter Pan, by Peter Anastos, she carried the role of “Tiger Lily”. And later in the season, she dazzled audiences with Tropical Fiesta, a work especially created by Artistic Director, Willy Shives for San Antonio.
Prior to coming to San Antonio, Ms. Martin danced with Ballet West’s second company under the directorship of Mark Goldweber and Adam Sklute. While with Ballet West, she originated the principal role of The Little Mermaid.
Ms. Martin starred in the BBC Worldwide production of “Breaking Pointe”, a documentary-drama featuring the lives of modern day ballerinas. Her growing repertoire includes Balanchine’s Serenade and Rubies; Ben Stevenson’s Dracula and Swan Lake; Don Quixote by Anna Marie Holmes; Scheherazade, Alice in Wonderland, August Bournonville’s Tarantella of Napoli and the role of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, among others.
Ms. Martin continues to be a principal guest artist with A.V.A Ballet Theater based in Reno, Nev. and is on faculty for The Jillana School Summer Intensive Program,focusing on Balanchine technique and style. Ms. Martin was the interim ballet mistress for True Dance Academy out of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mayim Stiller was born in Seattle, Washington and moved to Oregon at age three. He started his training at Oregon Ballet Academy under the direction of John Grensback. He received scholarships to attend summer intensives with Texas Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, School of American Ballet, and on a Job Sanders Merit Scholarship at the Maximum Dance Course with the Nederlands Dans Theater, De Dutch Don’t Dance Division and Ballet & Co. He attended year long programs at the Pacific Northwest Ballet Professional Division and the School of American Ballet. He performed the lead role in Faust at the School of American Ballet's end of year workshop, reviewed in the New York Times, Broadway World and Critical Dance. He started his professional career with the Los Angeles Ballet where in addition to many corp roles, he performed Arabian in Nutcracker. This is his first year with Ballet San Antonio.
